Special Education Endorsement

Become a Special Education Teacher!

  • Are you an outside-of-the-box problem solver who accepts the differences in others?
  • Do you have a desire to learn about assistive technologies, differentiated instruction, and individual exceptionalities?
  • Are you ready to serve and help provide a better quality of life for individuals with exceptionalities?

If so, then it is time to start the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree with an endorsement in Special Education at Mississippi State University-Meridian. This degree prepares you for teacher certification in grades K-6 with endorsement in one subject area (grades 7-8), and in special education (grades K-8), with the option of an additional certification in special education for K-12 Mild/Moderate. The degree program consists of course work, field-based learning, and a semester of teacher internship.

So, what happens after you graduate? Well, nationwide, we are in a critical shortage of qualified special education teachers, so the prospects of getting a job after graduation are strong.
