For the First Cohort of Students
“Mississippi State University-Meridian has applied for Accreditation - Provisional from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Mississippi State University-Meridian anticipates matriculating its first class in January 2020, pending achievement of Accreditation - Provisional status at the September 2019 ARC-PA meeting.
The program will not commence if Accreditation-Provisional is not granted.
Accreditation - Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appears to demonstrate the program’s ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding accreditation-provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.”
The developing program will begin accepting applications in April 2019. Applicants must be aware that the program may not be granted Accreditation-Provisional in 2019. Applicants will be notified if this occurs. Fees for the CASPA application and associated transcript verification, the CASPer exam, the GRE exam, and/or any expenditures associated with the application and interview process with the MSU program will not be refunded.
Only VERIFIED applications will be reviewed for consideration for an interview. Please review the CASPA website carefully for the definition of VERIFIED.
Applicants selected for interviews will be notified beginning the first week of October. Applicant interviews for the proposed class entering in 2020 are planned for October 2019.
Due to the nature of our interview process, no alternate interview dates will be offered. All interviews will be in-person on the MSU-Meridian campus. If you apply to the Program for this admissions cycle, please leave ALL dates open in the event you are selected for an interview.
Applicants who are interviewed and then invited to join the Program will receive a letter of conditional acceptance from the Program by the first week of November. Conditional acceptance is predicated on the program receiving Accreditation-Provisional status by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant.
If granted Accreditation-Provisional, program classes will begin in January (Spring Semester) each year.
Information regarding the admission process will be emailed to those applicants designated as conditionally accepted into the first cohort of the MSU MPAS Program.
Course registration information will be emailed to accepted students prior to Orientation Week.
