About Us
Mississippi State University-Meridian launched the Mental and Behavioral Health Clinic to meet a crucial need for mental and behavioral health services in our local community. Through the evidence-based care provided by our compassionate counselors, we’re taking care of what matters – instilling hope, fostering healing and improving quality of life for those we serve.
Why It Matters
- Fills a critical need: Many rural areas in Mississippi are designated Health Professional Shortage Areas. Our clinic eases the burden on existing facilities and addresses long waitlists.
- An educational hub: Our clinic provides hands-on training for graduate students pursuing degrees in counselor education and psychology.
- Holistic health mission: Our clinic strategically complements MSU-Meridian’s growing health professions offerings, including physician assistant, nursing and simulation programs.
Our facility is equipped with seven counseling rooms that double as training spaces for graduate students. Services offered treat children and adults through the lifespan while preparing graduating students to fill rural healthcare provider gaps statewide.
The establishment of our clinic was made possible by funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, along with the Broadhead, Riley and Phil Hardin foundations.
